Final Expense Internet Leads: A Buyer's Guide

Published by Agent First Contracts

Internet leads are people who filled out an online form about Final Expense or burial coverage. For a field agent they can fill a calendar quickly, but the price on the order page tells you very little about what a lead will cost you by the time a policy is placed.

This guide lists the digital lead products we currently post, explains what separates fresh from aged leads, and gives you a short set of checks to run before you spend money on any internet lead, from us or anyone else.

Our posted digital lead products

These are the one-time digital lead products on our order page, priced per lead. They come from the same catalog the order page uses. Product names are labels for different lead products; ask us before buying if you want details on how a specific product is generated, rather than assuming from the name.

How ordering works

Digital leads are bought by county. The lead inventory map shows current availability, and you choose quantities for one county at a time before going to secure checkout.

  • Aged-lead minimum: at least 20 aged leads per order, counting all aged age bands together. Fresh digital leads don't count toward it, and an order of fresh leads only has no aged minimum.
  • Fulfillment: Orders are fulfilled in the order received on the following business day, starting at 5:00 a.m. Central Time. Lead delivery is not immediate.
  • County check: Confirm this state and county again on the checkout form before paying. A saved address may show a previous county.
  • The secure checkout page shows the final price. Inventory isn't reserved until the order is processed.

Fresh vs aged internet leads

The difference is time. A fresh lead responded recently; an aged lead responded within an older date range, shown by its age band. Time matters because people's plans, phone numbers and interest change, and because more time has passed in which someone else may have contacted them.

Aged leads cost less per lead. Whether they cost less per placed policy depends on how many you can reach and see. That's why the useful comparison is never price against price, but cost per placed policy against cost per placed policy, measured with your own results.

Fields to check on every lead

  • Response date: compare it with the age band you paid for, and note how many days pass before your first contact attempt
  • Source or product: record which product each lead came from so you can compare products later
  • Address and county: confirm the lead falls inside the territory you can actually drive
  • Phone and contact details: count how many are complete and working
  • Age and other stated details: note obvious mismatches with Final Expense eligibility, without assuming anything about the person's health

Geographic fit matters more than the headline price

For a field agent, a cheap lead two hours away can cost more than a pricier lead fifteen minutes from your next appointment. Before ordering, look at the counties you can reasonably work in a day and how many leads are available there. Ordering in clusters makes it easier to stack appointments and keep mileage down.

Unit cost vs placed-policy cost

Unit cost is what you pay per lead. Placed-policy cost is everything you spent on a batch (leads, mileage, other costs) divided by the policies that actually placed. Two batches with the same unit cost can produce very different placed-policy costs, so track each batch separately.

Placed-policy cost is still an acquisition cost, not profit. Compare it with the commission you earn and keep, minus chargebacks, other overhead and taxes.

Questions to ask any lead seller

Ask these in writing and keep the answers. We don't assume the answers for any seller, including ourselves; ask us too.

  • How is this lead product generated, and what did the person agree to?
  • Is the lead sold to one agent or more than one? Is it ever resold later as an aged lead?
  • How is the age band measured: from the response date or another date?
  • What happens if a lead has invalid contact details or falls outside my county?
  • When will the leads be delivered, and how?
