Aged Final Expense Leads: An Honest Buyer's Guide

Published by Agent First Contracts

Aged leads cost less than fresh ones, which makes them attractive to new agents. But age alone doesn't tell you whether a lead is worth working.

This guide covers what to confirm before you buy, how to test a small batch and how to contact people respectfully.

What age does and doesn't tell you

Age tells you how long ago the person responded. It doesn't tell you how they responded, whether they agreed to be contacted, how many agents have already called them or whether their contact details are still correct.

Questions to confirm before you buy

  • Source: how was the lead generated (mail response, online form, other)?
  • Consent: what did the person agree to, and is there a record of it?
  • Prior contact: has the lead been worked before, and by how many agents?
  • Resale count: how many times has it been sold?
  • Geography: how dense are the leads in the counties you can drive to?
  • Invalid leads: what counts as invalid, and is there a replacement or credit policy?

Small-batch evaluation worksheet

  • Batch: lead type, age range, county, quantity, total price
  • Leads with working contact details
  • Contacts reached
  • Appointments set
  • Appointments run
  • Applications submitted
  • Policies placed
  • Miles driven and other costs
  • Do-not-contact requests recorded
  • Decision: reorder, adjust or stop

Reading your worksheet

Turn the counts into a few ratios so batches can be compared with each other. Set your own decision thresholds based on your budget and goals; there is no universal reorder benchmark.

If a ratio's denominator is zero (for example, no appointments set), that ratio is undefined. Record it as not available rather than zero.

  • Contact rate: contacts reached ÷ leads in the batch
  • Kept-appointment rate: appointments run ÷ appointments set
  • Placement rate: policies placed ÷ appointments run
  • Cost per placed policy: total batch cost (leads, mileage and other costs) ÷ policies placed

Current aged-lead age bands and prices

These age bands and prices come from the same catalog our order page uses. Availability is by county and changes; one county having or lacking inventory doesn't indicate availability elsewhere. Confirm current inventory, terms and the final price at checkout.

  • Aged leads, 31–90 days: $5 per lead
  • Aged leads, 91–190 days: $3 per lead
  • Aged leads, 191–365 days: $2 per lead

Minimum order, checkout and fulfillment

  • Aged-lead minimum: at least 20 aged leads per order, counting all aged age bands together. Fresh digital leads don't count toward it, and an order of fresh leads only has no aged minimum.
  • Fulfillment: Orders are fulfilled in the order received on the following business day, starting at 5:00 a.m. Central Time. Lead delivery is not immediate.
  • County check: Confirm this state and county again on the checkout form before paying. A saved address may show a previous county.
  • The secure checkout page shows the final price. Inventory isn't reserved until the order is processed.

Respectful, compliant contact

  • Follow applicable calling, texting and do-not-call rules for your state and the lead's consent
  • Introduce yourself and the reason for your call; ask if it's a good time
  • Honor opt-out requests immediately and record them
  • Never imply an existing relationship the person doesn't have

Aged leads through Agent First

Our order page includes an Aged Leads category. Before you buy, verify current inventory, age ranges, posted prices and terms on the order and inventory pages; inventory age bands can differ from purchasable options, and availability changes.
